We are united by the gospel

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and base our faith and teaching on that belief. The truth of God’s Word is the basis for unity within the church, and is the supreme authority by which everything in His creation is measured.

We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God who created everything that was made just as He describes in Genesis. The Bible teaches He exists as three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; each person is fully God, but works in different ways in complete unity with the others.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, equal with the Father and the Spirit. He is fully God, and yet took on human form, miraculously conceived and born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and gave His own life as a perfect sacrifice for us. By rising from the dead, He proved that death and sin had no power over Him and that He can deliver us from death and sin. He is alive and will return some day for His children and to make all things right.

The Holy Spirit is God, equal with the Father and the Son. He moved the human authors of the Bible to write, testifies to its truthfulness, and directs people’s attention to Jesus. He is active in our salvation from beginning to end, and lives within each true believer giving them the power to live in a way that pleases God. He gives gifts to each believer to serve Jesus Christ through His body, the church, but some of those gifts were given only for use while God was laying the foundation of the church.

God loved us and chose to send Jesus Christ to take our punishment and die in our place. By accepting what Jesus did for us by faith, and trusting in Him, God has given us the power to become His children.

The church is not a building, nor is it a human organization — it is people, all those who have believed in Jesus Christ and accepted His free gift of salvation. Each local church is responsible directly to Christ as head.
